Charlotte and Chic

What use is happiness? It can't buy you money

I may have used this photograph before, but tough, I came across it last night and it reminded me of days gone by so here it is again captioned with a classic Chic Murray joke.
I don't actually remember meeting Chic personally although that is my hairline visible in the bottom right of the picture. He did, however, permeate my life one way or another. His humor on TV brightened my life from childhood to adulthood, and I graced his hotel bar in Edinburgh on many occasions.
His association with my family, I believe, derived from our involvement in cinemas in the early 50's and therefore an involvement in the entertainment business in general. In the 1950's even Hollywood stars came to Edinburgh to attend film premieres. Again, I may have mentioned this before, but for those who haven't visited here before you should know that my mother once had lunch with Cary Grant and claims to have been on a date, in her teenage years, with Sean Connery. Neither claim has surviving evidence but I believe my mother and that is my right :-)

Hey! I believe it! Now I can say I met a lady who once dated Sean Connery. Cool!
