Bratz party

Well this will be the second birthday cake Eddy has consumed today so I guess dinner will be out of the question!

Pet Rescue Centre

Sunday afternoon sure seems to be a busy time for pets in need of rescue. Luckily the junior Teds are willing and able to step in and rescue them all.

Basketball boy

Eddy is in Corpus today with Mrs Ted so Little Ted and I had breakfast with Buddy, walked the dogs, and then went to the park to play basketball.
Little Ted hasn't quite got the hang of this yet as he kept kicking the ball and then lying on it and then claiming "I've won with 11000 points"
Huh?
At least he was having fun and using up some of his pent up energy although his daddy feels that maybe he got more excersise than Little Ted.

Friday lunchtime view

Today I thought I would investigate the marina area.
It kind of put me in mind of seeing places from a railway train. You get a different perspective on even familiar places when viewed from an unusual angle.

Eddy's Nemesis

I suspect that Mrs Ted has a vacuum cleaner fetish. In the 10 years I have known her she has owned at least 7 vacuum cleaners including this one.
It is a good thing to want your house to be clean but when you renew vacuum cleaners like you renew your toothpaste this may signify a psychological problem!
Not only do I need to worry about Mrs Ted's state of mind but Eddy has taken an unreasonable dislike to this new creature and it hasn't even been fully charged yet. Goodness knows what she will be like when it is scooting about the house in a cleaning frenzy.
Come to think of it I suspect that it will terrorize Dr Johnson and Miss Molly as well.
Watch this space for the gory details.

Boys night out

At the Crab N Aransas Pass.
Mrs Ted 'phoned late yesterday afternoon to let me know that Faith Weavers was restarting at the church and that she and the kids will have eaten by the time I get home. So, on the spur of the moment, I called Buddy at the Evil Empire and suggested we meet up for dinner. The result was a very pleasant meal with him and his wife - I can recommend the crab cakes if you visit Crab N!
When I stood up to leave the lady at the next table asked me where in Scotland I came from and it turned out we are both from Edinburgh.
What are the chances?
Well they seem to be quite high as that's the third time this has happened to me in the 2 and a bit years I've been here.

Downtown Department Store Degradation

To continue on yesterdays topic here is a picture behind which lies the sad tale of a declining industry. As the big stores all fled downtown in favor of the new, big, vehicle friendly malls so the once proud family businesses found it impossible to compete and therefore perished.
Lichtenstein's was on Chaparral in Corpus Christi and R W Forsyth of Princes St Edinburgh Scotland comes to mind too.
Sad, sad, sad

Times gone by

Whatever happened to F W Woolworth stores. They used to be everywhere including, judging by this evidence, in downtown Corpus Christi. I guess the demise of this type of store and, the perhaps grander, Department store is what has brought about the declining status of "downtown" generally.

The perils of commuting ...

Not so much for me but more for the bird population of South Texas.
That is the second bird in three weeks which has chosen to commit suicide by hurling itself at my windshield. This one went for the radiator first but ended up being swept off the windshield by the wipers.
I just hope I never hit one of those prehistoric pelican things that fly at you on the causeway; they could do you some serious damage!

The Soda Shop revisited

Well, we had a Valentines breakfast with Sally and she persuaded me to try the Soda Shop again.
I am pleased to say the service was as good as the breakfast this time so now it can be recommended as a place to visit :-)

It's Thursday therefore it's Whataburger.
But, as there is a pleasant breeze blowing and the temperature is around 72F, I ate down at the beach.

Commuting, again.

Every morning I see this advert for The Lexington and wonder "when did Eddy pose for that photograph"
Of course, when I get closer, I can see that it isn't Eddy but from a distance it sure looks like her smiling down at me.

Lunch time in the City

Ted got to play in the big city today; he went to buy a software manual at Barnes & Noble and then went to Academy where he attempted to buy a trigger guard for the ongoing safety of Little Ted, the family, and anyone else who may be around as Little Ted is taught the basics of shooting!
However, the chap at the gun counter gave him a suitable device free of charge.

Heading home

A good time was had at the aquarium but Ted did not succeed in bypassing the gift shop on the way out. Consequently we are heading home with a stuffed otter and a set of plastic binoculars. No child should be without these essential additions to their collection of toys:-)

This just gets better

Here I am working.
Yes, working, I get to look up cool stuff, this is just one site I visited in the course of my morning research, and I get to update our web site too.
This sure beats selling folks stuff they don't need or want!

Commuting

Apparently, as usual, I appear to be the only person driving within the posted speed limits.
I've only been commuting for 3 days but in that time I've seen 3 "visible" radar traps and 3 "unmarked" patrol vehicles. Hmm, maybe I'll stick to those limits!

What a beautiful day

Ted could get used to this; getting out at lunchtime, not worrying about losing sales, and enjoying lunch by the water.
Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone with SprintSpeed

Morning commute

Ted is feeling quite smug today. He has to organize himself to drop the kids off at school and then set off driving to Corpus. This gives him time to catch up on world events and listen to the country music channel on Sirius.
He does not have a morning meeting where he is told what to think and do every minute of the day.
Long may this last!

Room with a view

Actually this is two floors up from where I'm working but I thought it. Was an interesting view of the harbor bridge.

Too early to report on the new job but I am, shall we say, not unhappy at this time :-)
