This weekend Ted decided to take his family cycling at Goose Island State Park. So on Saturday evening he loaded the bikes on the carrier and drove out over the causeway to the park. We had left it rather late in the evening and so only managed a 2 mile saunter around the campsite loop. However it was such a success that we agreed to revisit this activity on Sunday evening but this time we took our dinner with us and made an evening of it.Again everyone had a good time and we managed to spot some deer in spite of the noise we were making (well, have you tried cycling with 2 young excited kids?). The kids took turns riding a kids bike with training wheels and the "attached" bike trailing behind Ted's bike. It was obvious to the adults that the training wheels were unnecessary but the kids were not convinced. We finally negotiated the removal of the training wheels and, to Eddy's great surprise (but not her parents'), she shot off on her own and managed to maintain her balance very well. Still needs work on the riding in a straight line and watching where she is going department but overall a great success. Here is the actual moment of revelation recorded for posterity.
